DaveC
First steelie on the swing for me today....unfortunately i was mid river and tried to get it to shore i had to cross some thigh deep rapids. Man i really wanted the evidence with fly in mouth...but it spit the hook from me not keeping the tension on. It hit one of Cliffs Niagara streamers in pink/white. Hit right at the end of the swing...dangle or what ever you call it. My brother hooked a bunch but he was floating bags...a few fish in every pocket or run, so lots of moving around. Water was low and clear...but its only going to get better. Bring on some cold and rain. Cant wait to do it again...next time with evidence. Good times....beautiful day. The schip almost got a blow fish on the reservation early this morning...haha. Got to get there early for those...lol

snakeman4
Congrats dave! it really is a rush when it all comes together and you get a nice tug. It only gets easier from here, once you have confidence in your fishing style and presentations you'll hook up to a lot more fish!
DaveC
Thx guys, was definitely a good feeling pulled my rod tip almost under the water. I was really getting frustrated, and good thing it finally happened. I can see now about leaving it in the current at the end of the drift. Hey Alex we need to try some swing at Niagara, you can show me your approach. Probably a few spots in the Glen that I can think of..is there any in the US Art Park at all that you have tried? snakeman4
never fished the US side of the niagara, but i do have a few spots in the glen to swing. best to wait till nov 1st when the water drops tho. I'm currently working out of town up in Lindsay, so my fishing is currently restricted to the weekends that i come home

Oh I washed a bunch of flie you better believe that...was worth it though. Going to keep trying and changing up things here and there. I want to give a scandi line a try, and try smaller flys. Tom S
Tom they let me back in only cause dave slipped the guy a 20....and a pic...not a fishing pic either... Not even going to ask. Maybe a good picture for The Drake? I got out for a short time Saturday morning on the Lower Grand. Not a sniff, but then again no one else was catching or seeing anything either. Oh, and I found out first hand that the water up around Paris is about still up about 10 Celsius. Canoe trips are fun, canoe tips aren't.
schnipster
ouch that sucks...i tipped once this year in algonquin--not fun at all..
DaveC
The colder water up that way is what sustains the good trout populations. The water out of whitemans and its tributarys is noticably colder when wading below there. I been helping with stream rehab in that area and im amazed so far at the feeder streams and wild brookie populations. TU has temp probes all over the place and big improvements have been made. Great organization that really works to keep the grand the way it is for everyone to enjoy. Well worth being involved....good group of people.
