I was surprised to hear of Joe's passing today.....one of my fav.singers who was a natural at singing soul/blues . His last albums were backed up with the big band sound ....loved his sax players . He has been singing over 4 decades and did some great duets with well known singers over the years . One of the things about getting older .....you see many of the great ones you grew up with passing on .....but thanks to technology we can listen on many years after they have gone .......

A true legend who gave us so much. As an inveterate blues fanatic, I came to see Joe as the epitome of British blues vocalists. He will be sadly missed, but now he truly is up where he belongs. R.I.P.

He was also a fly fisherman .... :) ....and like me , had a greenhouse for growing tomatoes .....from "Daily Mail on Line" ...

Away from music Cocker enjoyed long walks in the mountains with his dogs, fly fishing, playing snooker with friends, and growing tomatoes in his greenhouse.

He moved to Crawford, Colorado, a town of fewer than 500 people, in the early 1990s. He and Pam ran a children's educational foundation - the Cocker Kids Foundation - that raised funds for the town and schools, and ran a cafe.

He is survived by his wife, his brother Victor, his step-daughter Zoey Schroeder and two grandchildren, Eva and Simon.
