Hey guys.  Just wondering something... My son is six year's old. He enjoys coming for walks with me to look for deer, tracks, rabbits etc. behind my Dads house. I just wanted to know if I go hunting for rabbits, is he allowed (by law) to be by my side . Of course he will not be hunting and will be in orange.  Any thoughts on this.????

That's what I was thinking Chris Botari. Even though he's not shooting he's still taking part in a hunt... I'll call the MNR and let you guys know.

I Just called MNR.. My son is perfectly fine coming on a hunt with me as an "Observer." Described as someone who is not actively involved in any part of the hunt but is there to enjoy, observe and learn. (i.e. "Daddy! There's a rabbit to your left in that opening! Shoot it!") :clapping: There is no age limit as an "Observer." Now, if he were to become interested in hunting, than the age is 12 where he may take his apprenticeship. This is good to know and I'm sure my son will be please too.

Thanks smerchly. Ticks are brutal this year. My Dad lives in front of Shiners Creek Conservation. I usually don't take my son out there to look for animals and tracks until the first snow fall b/c of bugs and ticks especially are so bad. Good hunting to u too.

When we were sixteen Smerch, there weren't a lot of things in the bush that we see today.....turkeys, elk, coyote, antihunters, posted property, garbage everywhere. Deer were even scarce back then.
