Had a hour to spare this morning, so I stopped at the Rec Canal. Tossed a spinner bait for a few minutes, and ended up catching this.[attachment=1485:fish_005.jpg]
If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.

It's a pretty reliable spotfor other species as well.

Thats how we all start out. We learn from each outing, new experience, and our mistakes.

I usually have a fishing pole in the back of my car. That way When ever I see a spot that may be productive, I stop and start throughing different baits. I'm not a great fisherman. I just enjoy experimenting. Sometimes I luck out. Most of the time I'm not so lucky.

don't give up for sure, I have fished ever since I can remember, and believe me, even when we kids would go with the grown ups, chances are we where pretty much on our own to learn the hard way...it was better than listen to the grumpy grown-ups if you asked to get a tangle loose or a new worm on :) ..I am sure had we gotten a hook in the eye or somehting the grown-ups would have helped out no prob :P , but other than that, besides a boat ride to the spot, or a car ride to a bank side somewhere, we where left to learn on our own.

I have with that comment how-ever been a pretty avid angler since I was probably like 5-6 years old, and lucky to grow up in the era where it was still "okay" for us kids to go on epic adventures on our bikes everywhere with rods, tackle, and all the gear to cook up some lunch up. I must say we where pretty darn energetic back then, we would fish all over the Niagara Region.

Then came the time where I was old enough and mom thought it was okay to go on adventures down in the Niagara Gorge and so on, thern came bigger better gear, and then boats ect along the way, and the obsesion, addiction, great times still coninue to grow to this day, I have my own kids to share in all this with now, but unlike when I grew up, I take the time to show the girls some tricks over the years,I have seen many a day where I couldn't even get my own rod in the water if I wanted to when the action was fast and furious...try having 3-4 kids in the boat with ya, and on to a rabid school of panfish or somehting when you got doubles and triple headers going on half the outing B)

keep at it , every time is a whole new adventure...I even have the odd skunk day once in a while ;) ,not many but it happens :)
If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine, and my tunes where played on the harp unstrung, would you hear my voice come through the music, would you hold it near as it where your own?

I can't believe that for the last 7 years I've over looked this spot, since I only live 5 minutes away. Went there this morning while it was raining. There for an hour and a half. Weapon of choice was 2" SHAD RATTLING CRANK BAIT. With in the first 20 minutes nailed 2. Both bass about 1 pound. Nothing special but still fiesty little buggers. Then nothing for the next hour.

Well, the bite finally slowed down. For a few days nice size smallies were taking pretty much every aggressive artificial bait I was throwing at them. These last two days it really slowed down. I guess it's time for me to switch up a little, and probally slow my presentation down.
