Hey guys........just found this place and wanted to say hi and hopefully get some input for next week so I can enjoy primarily a safe couple outings and what the heck, maybe even catch a few fish while I'm at it.

So long story short I am in my 30's now........fished a LOT more when I was young then I have lately. Was too young to afford anything other then flinging lines from the shore but I pulled in my fair share of salmon and trout..........probably shoulder to shoulder with some of you guys along the niagara and at Burt dam at some point B)

After years of serious hunting more then anything.........it's time to get back in the game!!

I will be picking up a boat I purchased on Tuesday. 19 1/2 ft rigged up for fishing the lakes. I am so anxious to get out there and just dig right in for some kings or drift the lower niagara and the bar that it's all I have been thinking about for days..........good thing I am not still 17 or I wouldn't even be asking, I would just say screw it and go.

In your guys opinion would that be an unsafe and risky thing to do??...........should I go elsewhere and take it slow, get to know my gear inside and out and THEN venture out for bigger game??

I want to be safe and I don't want to disturb other boats and/or charters trying to make a living.

So where would you recommend a guy dip his toes in the water first?

I am from the Cheektowaga/Lancaster area near Buffalo and my brother lives in the finger lakes.........interests are bigger game of Salmon, Lakers, Browns, Steelheads, Muskie.........walleye and bass are welcome on my line any day as well :)

Any and ALL advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

You cant go for bass yet..............unless you fish U.S. waters but you need a licence..........
