69norton
Patrick and I wanted to share a little project that we've completed - outriggers for our canoe. They were inexpensive to make, assemble/disassemble easily and can be strapped to the roof of my car, under the canoe, with no issues. They make the canoe so stable that we can stand comfortably and cast without feeling like we're going to tip over. They offer little to no resistance when paddling through the water. Let us know what you think!

dave524
OK , I know that that will work great, nice job too. I have seen pics of outrigger canoes from the South Pacific Islands, they all run a single outrigger. The buoyancy of the outrigger will stop the canoe from tipping in the direction of the side that the outrigger is on and on the other hand the mechanical advantage of even a fairly light weight cantilevered a distance off the side of the canoe will aid in making it resist tipping in the other direction. I'd be curious about the stability of using a single outrigger on maybe a slightly longer boom possibly weight the end a little if necesary. Any budding engineers have a opinion? Patrickb
We have been thinking of a trolling motor...to pricey for now. But definatly worth the work in building them. We both could stand up no problem and cast all day!
