I happily put in some time today at the Casting Kids event at the Pen Center in St.Catharines. Met up with Bucketmouth Johnny at the start and he showed me the ropes on what was involved.

Had a blast watching the yung'uns enjoying themselves and learning how to cast as I enjoyed teaching them too.

A few of the kids today did really well and a congratulations goes out them and all those that gave the competition a shot. :dunno:

I didn't get a group picture and the winning kid, but I did take these to give y'all a taste of what its all about.

Looks like it was a fun event. Thanks for the pics Tommy. I see you got Bucketmouths best side... :dunno:

I wish my kids were back from their holidays down in the States so I could have taken them there. I actually drove by today on the way home from PD to see what was going on and drove over to the old house I used to live at off of Glendale on the other side of the old factory.

Take it easy

Chili, i never posted it because i knew we were going to be short staffed and the pen center is a people magnet by itself and having the boat show going on was an added bonus. Sorry about that, we put the most children through this year than any other year i have been a member of the club. 45 children had fun learning from our members and although i am completely embarrassed by our club's poor attendance i praise the 6 members that showed up and put in a great overall effort to teach and run this casting kids event without so much as a break, and to the 3 members that helped me set up friday, thank you, sincerely, John.

ps, this was the first time we ran out of powerbait samples donated by Berkely. Thank you Berkely!! the children loved receiving those samples and can't wait to start using them.

Sorry John, couldn't resist. That's one of the main reasons I hate my picture being taken. 1- they don't make wide angle 105mm lenses and 2- I won't take pictures with anyone smaller than me... :dunno:

Hi Bucketmouth

I would first like to aplogize for not coming on Saturday. I was up at the show working for one of my Sponsors (Quantum) . I was told on Friday night That they wanted me to go to BPS for Saturday . This has been the first kids casting competition that i have missed in 6 yrs. I remember the frustation we had out at the Strawberry Festival when only three members showed up. Once again I aplogise for not showing up.

Apology accepted, no hard feelings, i know most of our members are now sponsored and have other duties. i have to take part of the blame for scheduling it that day, i heard enough grumblings from people that we should have it when the pen has their boat show so i made the change this year without looking at the calendar and later found out that the sportsman and bps had their shows going on the same weekend, oh well. I will pass this info on to next years youth director. As far as that strawberry festival it was a mistake to begin with, how do you expect members to get to grimsby for 3 pm on a weekday, and than you have 700 kids, impossible!

Hey Johnny: Well I will have to take the blame for this one I think it was me that suggested we go back to when they have there boat show not realizing that we would be at the sportsman show like fishn-nut said. You know that I love being there with the kids showing them how to get started in this great sport we call fishing. I have had the experiance to take the next step and go to the next round with the winners at our event and I have started to miss the interaction with the kids and trying to get them hooked. So I do apolligize to you and the club members that wear this club on their sleeves, I am that devoted to but when the sponcers call you don't have a choice. You have my backing to change the date back and I will be there :D Catfish
