First saturady i got fish in a long time and it was tough .headed out off gillford sat morning out to my buddy's GPS spot where he was the day before . they limited out in 4 hrs friday .
well the limit factor wasnt going to happen for me today fish shut down with the East wind i do think .the vex was marking fish steady they would come up have a look and then swim away .the fish i did pick up was on a Hali & a Nils Master mostly tiped with minnows tried mousies maggots meal worms and even tried the kitchen sink .ended up with a nice meal 24 keepers .O well bad day of fishing better then a good day at work in my books ..

nice catch... i have been to gilford 2 times this year and caught a total of 3 fish... i was very disappointed as the hype was on and people were saying they were limiting out....maybe next year during first ice i will try.... the ones i did catch were nice keepers... so more would have been nice... but like you said...bad day of fishing is better then a good day at work

Hey Bigfishbass, that's brutal. I've been to Cook's 4 times this year and only got skunked once due to laziness. The other 3 were limit (50), 18 (we left just before the afternoon bite), and limit (50). First advice - leave the tip-ups at home. The way the perch are hitting they are useless. An ultra-light rod and 6lb line really helps. A spring bobber tip would also be beneficial. Bring maggots and minnows because you never know what they are going to prefer. I'd like to get up again before the ice gets too soft. If you're interested I'll spend a day on Cook's with you and share my limited knowledge. I'll drive, or you can drive and we'll split the cost...whatever. I know from experience that the fish are going to be really hot in the next week or two!
If you're interested (or anyone else is interested) respond to this post, or shoot me a PM. :P :worthy: :(

I was out on sat also only caught about 20. Have fished gilford about every weekend for about six weeks, and limited three out of the six times. Fishing has been good there, hopefully I can get out once more.
