Sick people Joey . And being young is no excuse . Many people who get their thrill from beating /abusing/killing animals go on to do the same with kids or other people . But, as I commented in a newspaper about this , our own government decided they could up their vote support by killing thousands of innocent dogs & pups & many people supported that . This case is just a sad extension of what our government sanctions. I hope they get the sickos who did this , but don't expect much to happen to them ......unless someone decides they need to be "educated" . I would love to be the lash guy !

Grief has turned into outrage in this southwestern Ontario community, still reeling after the beating death of one of its famous nesting swans on the weekend.

Angela, a six-year-old adult female and one of 20 swans in the local flock, was found floating lifeless in the river Sunday. Seven eggs from the nest are missing.

Beer bottles were found near the nest, leading some to speculate that drunken revellers are to blame.

An autopsy determined Angela died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head, and also received several kicks to the body. No puncture wounds were found that might indicate another animal -- such as an owl, a natural predator -- was involved.

"It's a cowardly act against a defenceless animal," Stratford police Insp. Sam Theocharis said Monday.

He said police are taking the matter very seriously.

A cruelty to animal conviction could mean imprisonment of up to five years or a fine of up to $10,000.

June Kinsman, one of a small group of people in Stratford who care for the swans, and the one who found Angela's body Sunday, called the killing "stupid and senseless."

Angela's mate Nick has since been spotted sitting on the empty nest, she said, and when he's on the water, he cranes his neck around, looking for her.

An anonymous donor has offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible.

Looks like a beer party by some local nimrods who got their rocks off killing a swan . Pathetic losers.

Not sure what you mean by that smerch. I don't know of any government that would dare support torturing animals. Putting down overcrowded or sick animals is one thing but what happened at happy Rolf's can't be compared.

Putting down sick animals is a kind act . Killing dogs that are "breed specific" is a sick act ! By killing thousands of dogs & their pups against the advice of many very informed people like kennel clubs & vets,canine behaviourists, etc etc etc.....we are showing the general population that we can play God & destroy any animal that "we" have decided hasn't a right to live on this planet . This "philosophy" tells our kids that domestic animals & birds are disposable commodities that can be used or abused like a cheap toy .....in other words , no respect for a living creature . This leads to torturing animals just for "kicks" . Like I said , the government started the ball rolling with their decision that exterminating dogs into extiction is "a good thing" & I believe these cruel acts at Happy Ralphs are just an extension of our "normal treatment of animals . (young minds learn by example....cough cough) ........

I've already expressed my anger on Facebook over this. The group is growing. It was 4,000 when I joined. When I checked this morning it was over 7,000.

I'll bet the perps or friends of the perps are on there enjoying the attention.

Oh now I see what you mean. I thought you were talking about the TO humane society or something. Yes breed specific bans and subsequent killing of the species is ridiculous. Do you believe in Karma smerch? It was Micheal Bryant who against all advice of the specialists and a majority of public opinion still decided to implement the ban. Yes , Mr. Bryant killed a cyclist with his car and didn't even have to appear in court . Charges were dropped so no record of the offence exists . There is a You Tube video of the "accident" and he was reckless and caused the death of the man. Did you expect the ex - attorney general would be convicted of any wrong doing ? and yes Dan , my dog is a bitch ....a very badly abused staff by some perp from Wainfleet who decided to let her starve to death while he guzzled his beer . .....another animal abuser !

Gee I didn't know Bryant got off scott free. . Your dog is a good example of the other side of the coin smerch. Is that dog abuser allowed to own another dog yet? I believe there was a temporary ban on ownership. It would be nice to see him put a choke chain on Micheal Bryant and abuse him for awhile.

Why is the justice system so dam soft on animal abusers? The anti's use this as a spring board for tougher laws to push their twisted agendas but the truth is the laws are already suffient enough; just not enforced

The thing with hotmail is you have to use another email address to sign up for it. If the police can trace back the origin of each email or get co-operation from the hotmail servers they may be able to pin down the house. I hope which ever judge gets this case doesn't fall for the "we were so drunk" BS and does not consider 241 time etc. Hopefully these turds get treated like animals. Their own version of what animals should be treated like.

The police showed up at their door, but only say a male was responsible.

As for that goat it was found, gutted behind a dumpster (in the city).

These idiots should be given community service in an animal shelter as part of their sentence. Perhaps a few hundred hours spent in the company of animals that have been abused will touch something in them. Or maybe not. . .

First off i would like to say, I hunt and I know that killing an animal is very humaine IF YOU EAT IT....of course. Killing an animal for no reason is pretty not right. Mind you back in the day when we were kids we used to shoot our sling shots at birds, with hitting the 1 out of 1000 LOL, but I do want to say the media does blow things out of perportion, the rabbit that was found in the "parking lot "I heard was a wild cotton tail that was Road kill and was by the road. The media does like to be dramatic and make people think it was a bigger deal then it really was. Especially when i read that article and read about the hairless rabbit. Nobody would of had the time to peel the hair off a rabbit , ive cleaned many rabbits and know the furr does not come off as easy as you think.
