Another unusual plant

This plant caught my eye today. About 4 1/2-5 feet tall, the stalks appear to be fairly sturdy and the pods are about 3 inches long. Any ideas?

This is common milkweed. You can eat it if you cook it.
If you say shut up and fish then shut the hell up when they tell you that you can't fish anymore!

Hmmm. I guess the plant I always thought was milkweed is something else. Its a pretty cool looking plant.
