I've only fished Sturgeon Lake from the public wharfs at Anacon Point and Pleasant Point, both on the east side of the lake...both coughed up smalleye at night, but Pleasant Point was more, er, pleasant.

Thanks guys.
Personally, I think I'd rather be round here fishing but we made the committment so off we go. Was out on the lower, up past the powerhouses.... whewwww, lots of fish jumping, mostly small, none dark. Only a couple of small ones landed. CRappy timing, frankly, mid afternoon. (What the hell, eh? Is there, and I ask you this seriously, a crappy time to be out on the boat with rod in hand?) I was using blue foxes silvers 3, the old one roe bags of varrying sizes. Both fish were caught on foxes but only after we brought the boat almost to pebbly and started zapping the shoreline and slow retrieve. Most fo the jumpers were near the first powerhouse but no bites. zip... nada... Gonna try tomorrow night, hoping that a couple of days of solid sun will trigger some runs by seven.... Thanks for the info, were on Pleasant point, my budz rented it off the internet, fifty bucks a night, saturday through wed. Kind of posh for my taste but, considering its supposed to be freaking pissing down rain for sat and sun, the jacuzzi and fireplaces.... snicker. Check out the link, holy crap, last time I was north for opening day I slept in the back of the truck.... when I slept. http://www.butternutinn.com/cottage-rental.html Anyhow, thanks for the info. BTW Denis, those were nice Hogs you all caught last week, when I get back, I'm heading over for a licence and going hunting some slabs.... Speaking of licences and the American side of the river, there is a fantastic drift above the US powerhouse where, unlike the Canadian side, the river is relatively shallow and the water tame. Great drift all year long but, you got to have the US licence cause it is definuuutely on their side of the river. You can even anchor in the backwash of the rapids and cast spinners or drift roe over the water in front of the fishies first obstacle, fantastic! For bass, which, I know are not is season, jigs and spinner jig combos are deadly.... One colour outfishes all others but , well, if yer going, you can figure it out! ....man, I cannot wait till its smallie time. I like big fish and catch a lot of em but nothing sends a zing up the old spine like when when yer travelling warp drive in wild water with a smallie dancing on the waves..... yaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! What a rush, something you just dont get off lake fishing.... till a gale comes up and yer running to the shoreline like a surfer high on pure FEARRRRRRRRR..... bwahahahaha. I got caught out on lake erie bout five miles off last year, holy CRAP! Thanks again boys, Ill let you know how I make out and pass on the good word about the site and the bounty Niagara fishing has to offer. Do you do charters, Denis? Maybe I can hook you up with some of the brethern when Im up north. Lord knows, if they got a computer and can find there way here, the pictures will speak for themselves. cya on the water! |

Stand down slick. Was an honest question based on my ignorance as Ive never fished there. Nor did it require a response as I said I would check it out myself. Clear enough for you? Hope you enjoyed the map and it provided anweres to yer questions about location. |
