1. I think the eyes are mostly in the tribs spawning right now.
2. The marina in Port Colborne used to rent boats.
3. Heading up there Wednesday if the ice holds through the warm spell. Hopefully I get as lucky as you.
4. Warm weather on the way so get out there before Sunday.
5. I have the Aqua-Vu Explorer 5 and have found it very useful. Pop it down the hole and check for structure, weed beds, ect. It was also useful @ Ramey's bend fishing for smelts, drop it down the hole, turn on the lights and watch them come in. The only negative is that it's hard to see the display in bright conditions. I'm thinking about upgrading to a color model so if you're looking for a cheap camera to try out, I'll sell mine for $100 (needs a new battery $30 @ The Source)

I don't know if it's a fish sanctuary, private property, or the exact reason as to why you can't fish there but you will get a ticket if caught there. I know some people who were given a ticket there recently. I'm sure someone will elaborate on the details
7. Nice haul...I'll be out there again either Wednesday or Thursday for another kick at the can...When you're on them it's great but finding them and staying on them can be difficult some times.
8. Take your pick...If out of Port Colborne go left and if out of Abino go right...Somewhere in the middle between the 2 in 60-65FOW is where I was at.
9. We found that the smaller ones that were released quickly would dart straight back to the bottom. Out of 50+ fish released we might have had 4 or 5 float back up. A few were scooped up and put in the livewell and a few the seagulls beat us to. Whether or not they survive long term I'm not sure but we try our best to release them.
10. With the weather co-operating lately, I decided to head out on Erie for a day of Perch fishing with a friend. It was a bit chilly and breezy in the morning but we braved the elements and set up shop in 62FOW SW of Point Abino. This is my first trip that I didn't have to look for the perch as we pulled up right on top of them. We dropped the anchor and fishing was steady from 8am till around noon when the wind died down and changed directions. We spent a bit of time driving around looking for a school and about 30 minutes later we were into fish again. We ended up with 53 keepers and lots of smaller ones that were released (If we got them off quickly they would swim straight back down and the ones that came back up we scooped back up if the seagulls didn't get them first.) Later on in the afternoon I caught this guy. One hell of a fight on an ultra-light with 4lb test line. My buddy said that I need to change my nick from MinnowMike to MonsterMike because of all the big fish on light gear.
11. How'd ya make out? Did ya find any jumbos?
12. Thanks for the info...It looks worse in the picture than it actually was...The tail was kind of folded ove there and the net didn't cut or break it up...Being a fish of a lifetime and by myself, there was no way to take a decent picture without taking him out of the water...I did everthing as quickly as possible to get him back in the water fast...When I put it back in the water, within 15 seconds he shot out of my hands and straight to the bottom...After this experience though I'm thinking of getting a cradle for larger fish because most of my big fish are CPR (catch, pic, and release)
13. yup...caught on a pickrel rig with gulp alive
14. yup that was me...Wish I had a partner today to help land that beast and snap a pic of me trying to hold it
15. I went back and read it again and decided to call and get some clarification. They were confused as I was and told me that they would have the superintendent call me back tomorrow.
