  1. An improper battery can most definately cause motor problems. Especially if it's a electronic fuel injected engine. There are numerous online forums and service bulletins from all the major manufacturers explaining this. Even if it's not electronically fuel injected a improper battery can cause problems with spark plugs and stators. As well people running live wells, graphs, structure scan boxes and lights all drawing from the same cranking battery. I can provide some online forums with links to a lot of great information on the topics. An improper battery can most definately cause motor problems. 2. Big Dog has the sizes! I pour my own too that's them
  3. "BIG DOG" lol has it right. There's lots of good YouTube videos out there of reel maintance. The best one I have seen is a Shimano guy at the service centre walking you through one. That's how I do my reels. Just remember proper reel oil for bearings and shafts and reel grease for the gears. Less is more in fishing reels. As well with drag discs. Rub the grease between your fingers then coat the discs with a thin coat. Reel maintance will extend the life of your reels ten fold plus it's a great winter time hobby. Tightlines Oh and for spinning reels. They aren't so bad to do! Take them apart all the time. Use your diagrams and take pictures and lay your parts out how they came off. Take it to someone who knows they'll show you once and you'll be fine!
  4. And I forgot to mention. Most boats have your graphs running off the cranking battery. So when you have the nice 12" graph with structure scan and and the bells and whistles that's a lot of work for your cranking battery too!
  5. I highly recommend buying the proper battery for your boat motor. Not what's cheap. Check your engine manual and specs to ensure you have the proper size and enough "MARINE" cold cranking amps and Amp hour rating. There is a difference between marine cold cranking amps and cold cranking amps. When I purchased my boat the previous owner hadn't done that and it was causing my motor to run funny. I have a 2012 Mercury Pro XS 250 that if you check specs requires a minimum 1000MCA @ 180 AMP hours. Also marine batteries are designed to take the abuse of beating around a boat and the pounding of the water and hull. Car batteries are not that is why they fail quicker. If you google your specific motor you will find the proper requirements. Just my two cents but I fish 5 days a week and go through batteries every couple years between my cranking and trolling motor batteries. And not because I buy bad batteries is because I use them so much. It's not just price but warranty as well to consider and I have found the Nautlus batteries from Canadian tire have the best price/warranty/spec/reliability. And make sure if your using a onboard charger it's a good quality one and is matched properly to your batteries. Meaning it's set for lithium/AGM or whatever you have. Cheap chargers like to boil batteries. And boiled batteries don't last and can catch fire! Any questions feel free to PM me. Good luck in your search! Tight lines

    Repair Reels

Wouldn't say I'm "just anyone"! Lol. Done more than a few reels in my day.
  7. These things are bullet proof people. I have used them for many many years. I currently run one on my new boat. There's no risk no issue and I trailer all around Ontario and the US. 20ft bass boat with 250 proxs never an issue.
  8. Deep water transitions for me. Any contours or bottom changes in deep water with good bottom. No weed algae just rocks or shale. Tubes tubes tubes. And again deep cold water has produce large fish for me.

    Crappies

Shallow on tubes for me trees and weed areas. Can attest to ones in a foot of water!
  10. This is awesome to see the youth of the sport looking to get involved. Look forward to seeing more of this over the coming years. If any local youth are looking for advice or input I highly suggest joining a local club. Any of the local clubs would be awesome no one in particular is better than the other. Thy all offer experienced anglers with knowledge and guidance to help develop skills. For me personally I enjoy getting involved with youth anglers. I myself always take the time to help and give advice. For any angler period that happens to see a black ford truck around niagara with BASS stickers feel free to say hi and even show me a thing or too. Now for the no youth club statement........ Who says Niagara bass doesn't have a junior program? Unless you are speaking on behalf of the club, that's not a fair statement. For the record Niagara is working on a junior program and runs weekly kids fishing tournaments throughout the summer. Last year there was four tournaments out of chippawa creek for youth anglers from 5 to dark. There was club anglers there with boats to provide those who didn't have them.
  11. This proves you can't be afraid to throw big baits sometimes. That frog was huge!
