Dan Andrews
this one was barely alive. I picked it up with bare hands, snapped a quick pic or two and gently released it. I believe it was a crucian carp. Stretch A very tame heron but what kind? A very dead what?
dave524
I believe the heron is an immature Black Crowned Night Heron
FishyWishy
Last one looks like a very dead mooneye.

Erik.T.
I figured either mooneye or cisco Hard to say I am thinking mooneye as well or a rudd. I do not belive it would be a cisco as there is no adipose fin.
smerchly
That carp looks like it was hit by a yak paddle
hammercarp
I don't think it's a mooneye. They have a round head and a different body shape. Could be a rudd. It has the overshot jaw.
hammercarp
I think the damaged one is a goldfish carp hybrid . I also think that is a cormorant strike.

FishyWishy
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mooneye Picture almost mimics the way chilli is holding it exactly. Not a rudd fins aren't red like a rudd Not a golden shiner Not a cisco not elongated enough

Erik.T.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MooneyePicture almost mimics the way chilli is holding it exactly. Not a rudd fins aren't red like a rudd Not a golden shiner Not a cisco not elongated enough The fish is a golden shiner the lateral line confirms it if you look at a mooneye the lateral line is straight where as that of a golden shiner is curved downwards. This is shown clearly in chilli's picture but just in case I have drawn around this lateral line in yellow for the visually impaired. Do I get a prize? hammercarp
With damage to only one side on the fish that pretty much eliminates my evil black death bird guess.
marth11
too round to be a prussian carp (goldfish) maybe a crucian you never know
hammercarp
According to the literature I have read and some english anglers ,that I have talked to, who've caught crucians in europe, there are no crucian carp in north america. Some were stocked in around Chicago, Illonois in the early 1900's but they died out. What we have here are gold fish that have reverted to their wild state and cross breeds with common carp.
