knightfisher
Out on Martindale pond late this afternoon. Beautiful day. I counted at least fifteen pair of swans, and of course many geese, ducks, herons, kingfisher, osprey and other birds. Saw one beaver so large I made sure I was not in its path. Anyways a number of hook ups and a few lost at the side of the canoe. Also lost a number of bumps, which I attribute to the fact that I remove one of the three treble hooks on most of my lures. I find some fish inhale the lures and three makes removal much too difficult. Here are a few of the days catch. These two pike were a good size for the pond, weighed one while in the net, came in just under ten pounds. Both had huge heads. One measured in at thirty-two inches and other at thirty-four. niagarangler89
Yesterday was a perfectt day to get out for some fall bass/pike action! Looks like I could've made some better choices on spot selection lol (there seems to be an emoticon for any sentence). Anyways, those are some nice pike and great idea about removing one of the treble hooks..I'm gonna have to give that a try!

knightfisher
Thanks guys, glad you enjoyed the pics. The last one's my favorite as well. Was out this evening for a bit, making use of this great weather while I can. The canoe is usually put away by now, actually it was, but pulled it back out. Got into more pike and bass including this 18" large mouth. Notice the black tail on this guy. Just a note...the first pike I caught yesterday, I was retriving in the lure as usual and noticed the line went slack. I instantly pulled back on the rod hard and reeled like heck. I knew from past experience the fish grabbed the lure and was swimming towards me. Just a tip that may come in handy for ya. Hoping for a few more days of good weather. smerchly
I can't believe I'm responding to a pike thread Well done Dan , I'm glad to see you had another great day on the pond and got into some very respectable pike and bass . I see that big beaver lodge on the south shore , may be the home of the big one you saw . It looks like another great "Indian Summer" day today .......and it looks like some more rainy days ahead so I might be fishing shortly (about 600 meters sw from you)
blairwelsh
What a great day on the water! Nice action pics and beauty fish. I've decided to go for the fall bass, perch and pike as well.
