smerchly
It was confirmed today it's a go . It will produce about 6.5 MW of power which is smaller than the Heywood plant at Port Dalhousie . They announced on CKTB radio there WILL be a fish ladder built in accordance with approval from the MNR . It will be interesting to see how the fish ladder operates . Snags
Is this the one for the 12? Wellandvale? Or somewhere else

smerchly
Is this the one for the 12? Wellandvale? Or somewhere else Behind the Hotel Dieu hospital Snags .......My concern was the fish ladder and how it affects the 12 Mile water levels . They will have to shut it down sometimes when the Henley rowing races are on as they do for all the gen. plants at Decew & Haywood . They may need to shut the others down for a long period of time while building the new one . (I hope)

smerchly
So many untapped fish. Maybe even new species! GEMS = Genetically Engineered / Modified Suckers ....... We used to catch tons of white suckers in the 12 when they were able to pass through the locks at Port Dalhousie and way up the 12 into Short Hills , same with the eels . The fish ladder will allow the present species from Martindale to Short Hills to continue as they do now.

It was confirmed today it's a NO GO ! Estimates back in 2007 started at 15 million dollars . Today's estimate reaches up to $60 million ! After spending millions on "estimating" , it is too costly to build . It was going to supply hydro power to 4000 homes & even as electricity prices sky rocket the project wouldn't make $$$ . http://www.stcatharinesstandard.ca/2017/01/26/hydro-board-wants-out-of-shickluna-project
