schnipster
folks--this is my first double taper line--i want to know-how do you guys attach leaders? perfection loop? a piece of mono and them leader to preserve the fly line? if you could give me some advice it would be most appreciated. a few illustrations and my heart may grow fond of you. thanks in advance
ron4blues
Leader to line use a nail or needle knot. Anything bulkier will defeat the purpose of the DT for delicate casts.
iHasFish
I made my own loop on my line. Wrap it with thread, super glue it then apoxy it. Will last like a factory welded loop. Then loop to loop connection.
schnipster
i tried, for the first time, those loop kits that you slide on and tug on--worked great so far.
Tom S
Ever since I had one disintegrate on me while bass fishing I have not trusted those. I bend the line over, wrap and whip finish, then coat with Loon hard head. Going to try a welded loop with some old fly line at some point, can't bring myself to experiment on a brand new Rio line. schnipster
i only use the "loop maker" on my 3 wt so only brookies and ther various dinks
cplummer
I always use a nail knot. Old school beats new school on knots
ron4blues
Cliff, do you reinforce your nail knots with anything? I typically give them a thin application of 5 minute epoxy just for insurance, but I've also used a bit of Crazy Glue on occasion.

ron4blues
Well I have the DT line on the reel now. Casts beautifully. Just the ticket for those delicate casts with dries or nymphs/wets casting to spooky fish.
