100% of hunters $ goes to:

25% regulation -"modernized" wild turkey hunting regs and expanded hunting opportunities...... Really? So we are paying for the breeding  and movement of wild turkeys? How is it costing the MNR? Doesn't that occur naturally. "Expanded" hunting opportunities? Alot in this area would beg to differ

19% enforcement--we all know how that is going .how many COs do we have in the golden horshoe? 3? Maybe 4? All part time..

19% Science--15? aerial Moose surveys to assess population...year after year I hear from moose hunters that the MNR continually underestimate the counts..

16% Conservation--475 white tail deer tested for CWD... Pretty expensive tests for something that isn't prevalent hence the results of 0%

15% licensing-- ummm. Ok..

8% Education-- So if we are paying for the instructors etc. Maybe we as hunters should have more of a say as to what and how they teach.. instead of leaving it up to the MNR  "experts"

That's the breakdown of our $ according to the ministry folks..not much bang for our buck if you ask me..fees go up every year, does our services?

You are NOT paying for any instructors - we don't get ANY money from these fees!!!  Our only income is from the course fees!

What that 8% education probably covers is:

- the cost of creating and printing materials - yearly Hunting Regulations, Hunter Education Student Books and Exams;  there is a lot of time and labour involved in assembling the materials to put these materials together. (and no, we don't get these books and exams for free - the instructors have to buy them for our students, and we have to sell them at cost!)

- also education the 70% of the non-hunting public about wildlife issues, such as NOT feeding deer in winter.

Also, probably included in this would be all the costs of shipping and postage for books & exams to instructors - boxes of books aren't light weight!

Don't think that explains 8% of ALL funds..and  where's the remaining 7% that they don't even mention..after all, that's only $100 million dollars roughly.
