smerchly
Read this today in the Standard ....Of course some will say it's because of climate change , but many others say they don't control the dams near Cornwall properly . In any case , I have seen other spots like the one pictured at Port Dalhousie .....just west of the 18 Mile Creek , the cliffs are collapsing ,and where the houses are along the service road a resident had a couple dozen big cement barrier blocks on the grass ready to be lowered to bank up the shore ....$$$$$ cachingggg $$$$$ They say the Feds should pay the costs since the lakes are under fed.control..... https://www.stcatharinesstandard.ca/news-story/9994913--urgent-repair-to-eroding-port-dalhousie-shoreline-will-cost-2-6-million/
Chrisb
It's a natural effect of waves and water on shorelines. People just build near the shore and make it a problem.

The only difference is the extra high water levels we've had . I don't remember seeing the piers a foot under water . High water plus a strong east wind will cause the erosion to reach much higher up those steep banks . Charles D.Park is an example where I fished on the berm in the 50's ....never seen it all underwater until 2017 -18 . The lake has also been very low with over 3 feet or more of water below the piers surface . It seems they can't control the level well .... Chrisb
If it wasn't for climate change we would still be under100 feet of ice and in an ice age.
smerchly
Well , my inside /outside temp .is reading 102 *F. now . The planet has been "shut down" for over two months ....millions less vehicles and thousands less jets in the air (nice to see blue skies again) Thousands of factories shut down , sporting events that have thousands of vehicles on the roads , casinos , etc etc etc .....yet we have 100*F today . If the earth is getting warmer I think it's beyond our control to change it . Garbage is a BIG problem .....too many humans on the planet ..... ....drop the population by 10 billion may help , but big business wouldn't go for that ...... and who knows how the c-19 figures into the equation .....
