.........   I am "working it out" , putting wood side railings on my deck today , gotta keep dem bones movin  !!   The swelling has gone down  and the mind is fixated on my next carp trip .  I'm shooting for Friday to give the new rod a go .....2 spots to try in the Beaverdam area .  I hope I have a sore arm at the end of the day .....

I have been doing some work at home and now ready to try a few spots that are close  parking ....like out of the back of my van . A few days ago , while ripping a length of deck board , my saw kicked back and hit my right knee , got a nice bruise and a nice "Chester" limp,    & yesterday , while trying to start my power washer , the pull rope kicked back hard and the pull handle hit my left knee in the same area ....Unbelievable !!  At least both knees match !! (pretty blue colour)
So .... I have 3 carp spots where I can fish beside the van .  Those rocky spots ( as above) will just have to wait until
"Wounded Knee", is back in the hiking boots !
Looks like you had a real nice day out there Ty ....that's what counts !

Only when I have a fishing rod in my hand Daniel ....or  when I hear the supper bell ringing .
A  Rikkard's Red in the hand perks me up a tad too !

The "sportmanship" has left the arena . It's "win at all costs" because they are paid  multi million dollar salaries now .  These guys are paid more than the best brain surgeon , scientist or lawyer ...A trained seal can toss a ball through a hoop ....
It's the violence and fake injuries , etc that has spoiled many sports ....and it reflects into our kids today .
Back in the 50's two grade 8 boys had a 10 minute fist fight in the schoolyard .A teacher came out and told them to shake hands ,and they did .....then complimented each other for a good fight and became friends , with much respect for each other . Now we have the kick boxing where one can beat the opponent's face into pulp "after" he was kicked in the face and knocked down  ....and the kids copy this type of "fighting" . No more one on one ......6 on one is more common ....
Being an "elderly"  I have seen the escalating violence in the world.
Maybe they put something in those vaccines to calm us down a tad ......?   Well , they gave us the weed to make us happy happy

I don't watch any sports now except fishing related ..... ( the power of boycott)
I used to be a hockey fan ( go Bruins ! ) ,but over the years  Big bucks turned sports into a brutal "game" where the players use brute force instead of skill . The wimmins play better hockey today !  Now , sports has turned political . When I seen them "taking the knee" and pissing on their own countries flag .....time to say goodbye .  ....same goes for other "sports" . So I only watched the Olympic sports , until they found  crooked judges ,,,,,,  Soccer is a good game for the kids ....lots of good exercise ......but  "adult" soccer is now win at any cost  as well ....and become a multi millionaire ..
.....sent to me via email ......  typical soccer "pro"    (we use that word too freely)

69 was the last Christmas I saw the Bonnie. My uncle was a matelot lifer with her. One of the tallest fellows in the fleet. "Lofty",

The fleet was a sight to see all lit up at Christmas. We had the highest house on the opposing shore, so we always had a perfect view of the harbour once the fog rolled out.

I'll have to tell them having another anchor at the stern works well for me Bruce .....

Even riding at anchor with cable run out, a vessel still moves/swings with wind and current.

I have seen some ships blown against a bank on the canal .  Their brakes are a little slow as well , they have been known to take out bridges .  I suppose their anchors don't help in canal waters .

With large ships there is very little steerage control in strong winds. On the open sea, best option is to put your bow into the wind and ride it out.  Not possible in a seaway. That is why the Welland canal has frequent shutdowns.

Its been busy at GRT. That's usually the early producing spot. It really all about timing, like with smelt. I'm sure some Welland River spots are good, just have to go try.

Otherwise May is best for my spots.....and are the spots nobody fish. 😉

These record temperatures have warmed up the water , but still a little early for the aggressive crappie fishing . My grass is loaded with worms tonight... a sign that fish will be on the move , but the warm days will be back to normal this week , nearing freezing at night and +5*C highs .  I used to look for crappies when the trees were in full bud in April .

....just got a shot from my deck of the worms ....could easily get a couple hundred tonight !
