    Good Day Guys.
I finally got the boat out of storage on Friday.  Started it up and put everything back on it and its ready to go.
Spring Salmon Derby is first on Ontario.  That starts on April 13th.  Once the ice is out on Erie.   I will try to get a few times for some perch days.  After that, more salmon, perch and walleye.
Everybody have a great, fun and safe year out and around the water.
Talk to everyone once the action heats up for me
    Later

I was out from 7am-Noon straight out from the trailers at FM. Was in 15' on the south side and marked tons of fish but not even a nibble. I was able to count 62 huts from the dam down to VP's at one point in the morning. From the looks of it about half the people split around noon and I heard about 5 fish that were caught so it wasn't just me I guess. There has been massive fishing pressure there lately.

I'm going to Rennie tomorrow , west wind , good with the high bank there . I usually pick a random spot and sometimes get hits right off , or I'll wait for the fish to come . It seems they are on the move and when they show up I might get a few more before the bite stops . and they usually return again in 15 - 30 minutes .....Yes,   2 rods on the go , one with a minnow & one for jigging Raps , etc. with a minnow head . And bouncing it off bottom periodically seems to aggravate them and hit hard . Anyone going out there tomorrow ,about 10ish, look for a small green Eskimo flip over ....

...maybe, message Hamilton Bassmasters. I plan on being a vendor there, again. It's usually 2 weeks (Sat.) after the Niagara Outdoor Show (March 10). The NOS is full and there will be more retail than ever before. Retail drives these shows so that was my focus for 2019.

I have taken my mountain bike to the end of that pier (nice trail) , and fished a few spots . The canal side is very deep and tons of gobies there . Back in the late 50's we caught many varieties of fish along the canal side , like drum, channel cats , eels & a few pan fish.  (zero gobies)  . We hunted ducks there also .

They should put a bounty on the dammed things!
Then lots of hunters would be happy to go out and burn up some ammo, and maybe it just might help to reduce their numbers.

I'm with you Dave...I do all my own butchering as it is so much better with the care I take to get all the fat, bone and silverskin off...which I think is what causes any sort of gamey taste in the freezer. I can do a medium size deer myself cut, vacuum sealed and cleaned up in a few hours.  Better with a friend and a few beers and doesn't even seem like work.
Did 4 bears and a moose so far this year and hopefully a deer will come my way soon.

Lund are crap. They used to be really good 20 years ago, but they've cut so many corners to keep making profits even during the recession that they're not even close to what they used to be.
Alumacraft are good, Crestliner are good, Starcrafts are good, Princecrafts are good. Lund isn't really bad, but its not worth the huge premium they charge. Today you're paying for the name and that's it. For quality they're about the same as Legend, in fact the Legend might be better.

Many of the south shore tribs used to have extended seasons back when the15, 16, and 20 were stocked as put and take. Those tributaries are no longer stocked as they now have consistent reproduction.  These tribs also used to be gong shows in the fall and the slaughter was anything but justifiable. I, for one, was glad they ended the extended season. Just as I am glad they finally stopped allowing the spearing and netting of pike in the region.
