smerchly Posted May 11, 2008 Report Share Posted May 11, 2008 One day before the so called "Earth Day" , a few very wise councilors decided to cut down a very health stand of Austrian Pines to "open up" a park to enablethe "authorities" to see what was happening in the park .....especially at night ! The reason given for the obliteration of these trees ????? Unruly youth drinking , drug dealing & other undesirable things going on !!!!! bigugli Posted May 11, 2008 Report Share Posted May 11, 2008 Town councils acted upon the reccomendations of your local police and municipal staff. The same happens here in Niagara. Police routinely reccomend actions which will help simplify their job. The police will ask for the removal of trees or a hedgerow to eliminate a hiding hole. They will request additional fencing be erected to block escape paths or access to areas the police cannot patrol. The same reccomendations are made to businesses and residences. That is also how 'no fishing areas' are established. Some towns have gone to night curfews on all municipal parks. Things are simplified for staff and the police's job is made easier. And the town gets all those nice property taxes .......Win win situation ........for whom ?
