How Was The Weekend?

With bass opener this past weekend, I am suprised to see no reports. This really is a trout forum isn't it lol. Just kidding guys.

So whats up, did anyone get out? weather was nice enough for it. I got out early saturday morning and hit the river up first light, went with top water but didn't have much luck after a few hours. In a last ditch effort to get a bass on opener before I had to head into work for 9am we hit up the welland canal, and managed to get a few but not worth mentioning...No bigguns. At least we weren't skunked. Work was boring so usual weather researching etc etc few phone calls decided the next day (sunday) we would head out early for a little drive (dunnville area), to get some walleye fishing in. Conditions were perfect for that, but did get a bass while on the eyes.

Just wait guys the smallie population is growing, not only in numbers but in weight, a 20 lb bag is common, Simcoe is producing bags at almost 30 lbs. it's going to be very interesting in the next few years to see 7-8 lb smallies common place.

Dax & Rick nice fish guys!!

Didn't get out on the weekend, but went out for some rock bass last night and ended up with a wallie..... (Pics to follow)

Note the wound on its flank, it had a matching one on the other side. I couldn't imagine what size pike/musky would try to eat a 4lb walleye ...

you might be surprised :) I have caught 10# pike with a walleye that size in it's gullet....with the tail hanging out of it's mouth because it was too long to swallow. Still wanted my Rapala :)

I've been thinking that as well!!! You hear more and more 7-8lbs being caught. It's a great body of water lets help keep it that way.

Went out Saturday morning for 3 hours at Crystal Beach.

We lost a few, but boated 6 bass, including 3 over 3.4 pounds and one 4 pounder.

All the boats were working the shallows at the back of the bay by the Buffalo Yacht club, but we got the bigger ones out in 10 feet of water.
