Chrisb
My first rainbow from Lake Erie. 10.5 pounds. 39 feet down, 160 back on the rigger. Looks like a stocked fish. Note the fin clip. The left pectoral and the right pelvic are clipped. That probably tells someone where it was hatched or released.

steellee
Definitely laker. They re not to common on erie compared to the bows. US side stocks millions of rainbows but not much for them
dave524
Yep laker, actually the New York record for lakers is from Erie, 9 out of 10 people would have guessed Lake Ontario I presume. 39 pounds I recall

Chrisb
Does anyone know what the different fin clips indicate?
Finsanity
The US has a bunch of different hatcheries and it usually means it's from one of those they cut them because alot of anglers won't keep native fish and the lake trout with a clipped fin they will due to it being hatchery. Apparently the Fina they clip don't affect the fish but if you cut off my arm I'd think otherwise
Brian_b
Nice looking laker. Congrats on your first.
bigdog
Congrats on the Laker...I would highly recommend looking at the regs and Ontario Fish IDs...you could have gotten in a load of trouble if it was closed season for Lakers. No hate, just a friendly reminder.
