Fishing Magnetawan river?

Recommended Posts

Won a cottage for a week on the Magnetawan river. Heading there on Friday and I have no clue what to expect for fishing. Saw a YouTube vid of a guy catching a smallmouth and a bluegill.

Anyone ever been?  Thoughts? Tips?

Congratulations!! The Mighty Mag is a very long river so it depends on where you are. It starts up in Algonquin Park and runs west to Georgian Bay, passing through many lakes and some dangerous rapids along the way. Through that system there are largemouth, smallmouth, walleye, pike, whitefish, and all the pannies. Do you know exactly where the lake is?

Used to live in Burks Falls and fished the Mighty Mag from Katrine to the Village of Magnetawan and was able to catch Bass, Pike, Pickerel and Brook Trout all from standing on the same rock below the falls. There are also Sauger , Whitefish and lots of Pannies. Sand Lake at Kearney also conected to the Mag has Rainbows and Lakers...................................Daniel
