  1. Indigenous people don't need a license to fish on their own territory. Anywhere else and they're just like you and I. Be careful who you accost without knowing everything
  2. It is a long paddle to where they're catching. If you could launch from the point it wouldn't be too bad. When I go I launch from the ramp but head straight out. It's about 45 minutes of steady paddling to get to 55 fow but that area usually doesn't produce until June. I've seen pictures from the charters and they seem to be doing well if you want to spend $150-$200. You can buy a lot of perch at Minors for that price.
  3. Bass season is closed until the fourth Saturday in June. The Canadian Tire in Welland usually has hard copies of the fishing regulations. You should get one
  4. I think I was using a floating rap. His retrieve was so slow I think that's what did the trick
  5. My aunt gave me an old pic. Must be 35 years ago. The boy had a blast
  6. Whereabouts on the north end?
  7. Got out again today. I do miss ice fishing but as long as you're getting some fish, who cares?
  8. I'd like to know how you hauled that pike in?
  9. Got another meal doing some New Years Eve fishing. Hoping everyone has a great 2024
  10. Everyone missed out ice fishing there last winter. There was only one week with ice and even then I don't think it was more than 4 inches. I fished the north end of the rec today. Visibility is getting bad with all this rain and the ships still running
  11. Did some shore fishing today. Enough for a meal anyway
  12. The ponds at Legends are loaded. Big bass as well as carp, crappie obviously and lots of small pannies
  13. The fish was dead, Bill. It's the big pond at Legends Golf Course in my backyard. Lots of cormorants at these ponds and during a spring when the lake still has ice I've seen dozens of them
  14. There was a mark on the other side of the fish in the same place. That's why I figured a cormy had a hold of it
  15. Judging by the marks on the side of the fish it looks like a cormorant bit off more than it could swallow.
  16. Early June I think is the prime time for catching perch near Port Maitland. Guys anchor near the mouth. I imagine it's chocolate milk for a long way right now
  17. I saw pics of a whitefish caught there last winter. The guy that owns the tackle shop
  18. I went back to the spot I fished pre-Christmas and the bite was almost nada. Managed one keeper that swam away at the end of the day and two small ones that didn't even make it to the bucket. Back to the drawing board. At least I was out of the wind with my little heater which also came in handy to heat up my 🍕
  19. With temps about to plummet, I figured I'd try one of my hard water spots before it freezes up. It was a bit chilly but the heater took the edge off. Gonna try again tomorrow and hopefully I'll have enough for my Christmas Eve fish fry. It will make my 92 year old mother very happy.
  20. Do you ever fish from shore at that spot?
