  1. Where did you see who keeping what?
  2. That’s good to hear, must’ve been a great feeling for the angler
  3. If you belong to any other fishing forums it never hurts to try posting there, If not smerch I can post something for you
  4. Nicely done, are you using bait or artificials?
  5. I run 15lb braid with 10lb floro leader, I’ll move to 8lb when it’s clearer. Bass sized square bill crankbaits work, rogues and husky jerks too, as for plastics try a 3 inch paddle tail that’s resembles a goby, I’ve done pretty well on the keitech baits
  6. Got out in the sun today and was rewarded with my first shore brown, approx 26-28 inches and about 5-6lbs, caught on a 1/4 oz Cleo in chrome/green……the weather is looking favourable the next little while for early trouters, just be careful the rocks on shore can still be ice covered
  7. I agree Tyler I cant seem to wait for the spring browns, I'm already chucking some lures out there on the warmer sunnier days, no luck yet but only tried a couple times
  8. Here’s Jordan marina today, doesn’t look like there’ll be any safe ice anytime soon
  9. I recently bought a couple stradic 3000XGs, seem like great reels for the couple times I've had them out, never tried the vanford so cant speak to that one. I'm not surprised about the stradic sharing parts with the stella, good to know, that's why I almost never buy the top model of anything
  10. I’m no pro and I’m just starting to get into the drift game on the Niagara myself, there’s a bunch of YouTube vids on the subject, I like paul castellano, anyone who is a guide I would take their advice
  11. I bought a used helix 7 chirp/gps/di last spring for $600, was a great purchase for me, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with a helix 7. I really like using the down imaging when ice fishing, but it can drain your battery’s life quickly if you use gps a lot. Make sure you have good battery power is something else to consider that hasn’t really been mentioned. When I go away camping for a few days and going portable I’m often running out of juice, (using a 12v 7a) I’m contemplating getting a Dakota lithium for a power source, but it is expensive
  12. I use a Texas rig with either yum money minnow or large keitech swimbait, I use mostly use white, pink or natural colours
  13. Crazy, they're on my bucket list for sure. I've only seen one in the wild while portaging moon falls in georgian bay one year, the thing jumped about 4 feet in the air, I was about fifty yards or so away, it was amazing to see. Also good on ya to make sure other anglers know these fish are closed here, no need for things to get messy for anyone.
  14. I fished duffins creek about twenty years ago when I used to visit my cousin who lives nearby, we've caught salmon in the fall and caught plenty of trout, brooks, rainbows and browns, but mostly creek chub if anything. But it is a nice creek.
  15. Awesome stuff, catching a bonefish on the flats is on my bucket list for sure Are all your flies tied yourself? When you catch a fish on your own lure you made yourself it’s a totally different kind of satisfaction, the best!!
