  1. Oh crap, you just jinxed us! Ha, hope you are right!
  2. LOL, yes one man's food is another's poison! I don't think I've had the pleasure of Koch's beer. Were those "tasting notes" printed on the can? "Tastes worse than it smells, musty, musky murky, not unlike swamp water" LOL Terrible of those guys to take your beer, Smerch! Didn't mind cheap beer but always stuck to Five Star back in the day.
  3. Made a run across the boarder last week, filled up the Yukon and 6 Jerry Cans, figured I saved $105, plus $25 for case of beer! Smerch, I remember picking up MIlwaukee's Best back in the day at Tops for $4.99 per case, back in the late 80's early 90's. Nasty stuff though, I don't think they actually brewed it, just mix water, beer flavouring, some alcohol, then into the can! Also picked up a chocolate bar at duty free, couldn't resist..lol!
  4. Was lucky here in Grimsby, clouds started to clear just before 3, pictures don't do it justice, way cooler than I could imagine! When it was totally covered and you could look at directly, it was totally surreal!
  5. Hey Smerch, I helped my father with this last year when he turned 84. The hardest part of the test for him was drawing the face of the clock with numbers and the hands pointing to a set time of 10 minutes after 11. We practiced that before the test, he actually found it difficult to do that initially but after practicing a few times no problem. Most kids would draw a cell phone and write 11:10 on the front of it. lol You'll do fine. Unfortunately it does cause a lot of stress.
  6. Picked up my son's Mallard from Gunner today. He did a great job as usual. Very unique pose and base, the picture doesn't do it justice. My son was very pleased! If you ever want professional taxidermy done, Gunner does an awesome job.
  7. Hey Smerch, sorry to hear you are in this predicament. I would be very hesitant to let any of their representatives in your home or to sign anything provided, without having a lawyer review it first. In my experience anyone that wants to see you face to face is because they want to sell you something, or talk you into something. Just playing devils advocate but they could agree to reduce the monthly cost if you re-sign a new agreement with them and in doing so you could possibly lose out on the class action lawsuit and be locked in for an even longer period as an example. These parasitic losers prey on decent, trusting people. They are one step away from the lottery scammers, grand children scammers etc. Too lazy, stupid and immoral to make an honest living, so if they are coming out in person it is likely to try to pressure you into something to their benefit. You might already know this but I just took a peek at that class action lawsuit and it states under the FAQ section that you might qualify for a lease cancellation, and if you don't qualify for a total cancellation then at least a reduced buyout option along with a cash settlement following the claim process, so it might be worth holding out a bit longer as it looks like it is pretty far along. If no one has any direct experience with having dealt with this group I'd be willing to do a bit more research this week if you want. A couple years ago I witnessed Enercare tell my father that he needed to replace his air conditioner at a cost of $4500, the service agent didn't even look at it, he just played with the thermostat and then looked at the furnace, then just said based on it's age it was finished and needed to be replaced. I asked what his service contract he's been paying for covered and he said diagnostics, and service, so I told him to run diagnostics on the unit like he is supposed to. The guy was annoyed, I went out with him while he hooked up testing gas, and it was leaking at a contol valve, which a new O ring fixed along with an $800 coolant re-charge My dad was ready to sign up for a new air conditioner on the spot, trusting the guy. He was just lucky I happened to be there, and they are viewed as a somewhat reputable.
  8. That is the first time that I heard the full story as well. I didn’t realize that they made it out into the Niagara. River and down to the intakes. Hard to imagine that they wouldn’t have realized there was issue as soon as entering the water having dove their before. Sad for sure.
  9. Started a batch of my famous Christmas soup today! Hopefully it tastes better than it smells! LOL
  10. Amazing video! I used to dive Chippewa Creek a lot back in the early 90's unfortunately I never did dive the river byt wish I had. It looks a lot more interesting than bouncing over old wrecks, shopping carts and bicycles! Thanks for sharing.
  11. I was on a mission to catch a steelhead on a fly rod one year about 10 years or so ago and targeted Caledonia dam. I was there 5 or 6 times before I finally caught one, not a very efficient way to catch them but was a blast having one on. Once I caught one on the fly I crossed that off the list. I have caught lots of Rainbow Parr in some tributaries of the Grand while fishing for Brown's so there must be some natural reproduction. There is supposed to be a good run at Paris but have never fished there.
  12. You shouldn't have to grind etc., just give them the meat and let them do their thing. I've tried pepperettes from a lot of different places and none as good as Gourmet Meats in Mount Hope, bit of a drive but worth it.
  13. With a break in action at school my son was able to make it to deer camp in NY this past weekend. Got down on Friday afternoon out in stand by just before 4, it was rainy and misty so not the best conditions, but just before last light two bucks crept out into the cut we were overlooking, a six pointer and eight pointer. Both were in long grass up to their shoulders with some bushes mixed in. The larger of the two was behind the six pointer, as soon as the eight pointer presented a shot he took it. The buck jumped and twisted around and ran off to the right into thick bush. We waited about 20 minutes before getting down. Looked for about 15 minutes for blood but because of the rain couldn’t find any sign whatsoever so started a slow search through the brush after about 45 minutes finally found it in a small stream tucked behind an undercut bank. . The .243 did its job, taking out its heart but still managed to run a good 80 yards or so. To the say the least we were happy to find it! i shot a small five pointer on Sunday morning to break my season long losing streak. Did a lot of hunting this fall but seeing my son take that 8 pointer was definitely the highlight!
  14. I've been using Gourmet Meats, on Hwy 6, in Mount Hope for years. They make the best pepperettes and sausage I have ever had and reasonably priced. If you happen to bag a wall hanger, they will also cape it out for you. Best to call ahead if dropping off a deer so they are expecting you. This year our group in the controlled hunt decided to butcher ourselves and try our hand at sausage and pepperttes. We have to butcher the deer shot in N.Y. to bring back accross the border, will be bringing some of the N.Y deer meat to Gourmet Meat for some pepperettes shortly.
  15. It's too easy to pass up the does and small bucks at the beginning of the season. Just like going to a bar, everyone passes on the ugly girl at the beginning of the night but everyone is fighting over her at last call!
  16. That's great looking work. Are we going to see you on Forged in Fire one day?
  17. Interesting point about the heavier gauge wire. I've been having similar issues with my Humminbird with screen at corners and edges. It will often cycle on/off when I restart the engine which is hard on the electronics not to mention, annoying. After doing a bit of research it looks like they are very sensitive to voltage fluctuation. Will be upgrading wire in the spring to see if that helps. My unit is 12 years old and I don't know or try to use half the features and it still serves me well for my use at least.
  18. Yes with Walleye still in the mix hard decision, but the perch are calling me this time of year! I've never targeted them out of Maitland before.
  19. They still have the machines, so just need license number and credit card, hopefully they don't pull the docks too soon so I can get out! I was thinking of giving Maitland a try but would be starting from scratch in my search. Tomorrow is looking pretty good right now.
  20. Basspro staff are a good example of a little knowledge being a dangerous thing. I've overheard some pretty dubious conversations with customers over the years in their hunting dept. experts on everything! No different than SAIL
  21. Those are some good looking bucks! Might not be safe to go into the woods alone with those bruisers running around, let me know if you ever need backup, Ha!
  22. Good job on getting your Tom! Also nice job of processing him, looks like a professional plucking job!
  23. Congrats, looks like you had a great hunt with a couple of wall hangers!
  24. Congrats on your deer! Takes a lot of skill to take one with a bow!
