      Personally I've caught pike in several different spots. Just gotta find spots with a lot of rocks and pike should be close by. 

       

      Driving down own beverdamns red towards Welland. Just passed deque Rd on the right is a house right beside the water. That stretch of water is excellent.try that out. Let me know how you make out.

    Hey man..can you help me out with trying to catch some catfish? I'm pretty poor at it and only ever caught them by mistake fishing for other things. My girlfriend really really wants to catch channel catfish..and we've gone six times now with no luck.

    We tried the Welland river in a bunch of different spots. We just used a sliprig or w/e you call it...big circle hook with some cutbait...never got anything..we tried shrimp as well

     

    I was hoping you could maybe give me some tips..saw your post you seem to know what you're doing. We don't have any kayaks or a boat so it's all from shore.

      You don't have to cast way out in the middle of the river to catch them. They like structure. Find a downed tree or a Lily pad bed and put your bait near there. You can even place your bait right near the bank and still catch fish. The Welland river is pretty much bowl shaped where I've been fishing. Not much for structure so when you find some there should be some fish nearby. I fish with just a simple slip rig. Egg sinker, swivel, leader, circle hook. I prefer cut bait if it's fresh. Shrimp works well too just make sure you get the raw shrimp not cooked shrimp. Sometimes I'll mix chicken livers in with the shrimp and that works too.
