yakfish
I've been pouring my own jigs and sinkers for years. I'm wanting to pick up a couple molds to make drop shot sinkers and tube jigs for Smallies on Erie. What weights of jigs/sinkers do you guys use most out there? Centre_Pin_Assasin
Depends on the weather, but a safe weight for any weather for drop shot is 1oz and tube jig head 3/4 Oz lighter in my opinion is better you can feel the strikes better so you should make from 1/2 Oz up to 1 Oz for drop shot and 1/4 to 3/4 for tub jigs. bigdog
Tubes -1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4, 1oz Dropshot - 1/8, 3/16, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4 Drift speed and depth and size of bait will determine weight size. Pencil or cylinder style for dropshot on Erie while drifting, Bell style are good too. Round weights are great if you are fishing vertical over a spot. Tommyboy
For a calm day on Erie 3/8 is perfect, from there it depends on how brave you are
