Beautiful fish. Catch and release, or dinner ?

This one was released. We keep a few here and there. As well, any that are deep hooked or

damage to gills, come home for dinner.

As far as the second picture, Joe thinks it was the entrails of a deer.  Not sure how it got

into Gibson waters, was not aware any hunting was allowed in the area.

Could very well be deer guts Dan ..... I have seen guys hunting for rabbits there about 5 years ago . ....plenty of deer in the area too .  (12 gauge slug or cross bow for the venison) ?

Out for our daily exercise, Joe and I pounded some of the shorelines of Gibby.

The two small ponds are frozen over, but the main lake was ice free.

We went 1 for 3, with this nice 28 incher, which is currently being prepared for

a meal.

DarryL, there was one other guy out, but left after about half an hour. A few others were inquiring about the action, but didn't wet a line.

Tyler, usually I like a pan fry with coconut oil, salt, pepper and garlic.

However this one is in the smerch's hands....

Sounds like a plan Stan....That pike was 29" Dan , measured it twice , and it weighed just over 5 lbs . & had a 6" chub in it's belly !  I did the 5 fillet method ,then chopped it up for easier faster frying !  No Beamsville fish'n chips tomorrow ....  it's Gibby's fish'n Chips !   You caught it at MY spot  ?  B)

Pike must of been hungry with a fresh looking chub in its gut and going after our offerings.   Was caught at one of your spots you target carp on, Beaverdam Rd. One day I would like you to show me how to prepare a pike like you do....of course means you might not get the next one  :tease:

Dan there are a few good ways to clean a pike (Google , You Tube , Ask Alexa) :)

Even if you just fillet a pike ,from 3 lb.to 10 lb..... you can easily find that row of "Y" bones after frying the pike and remove that line of "hair bones"  with a butter knife , fork or tweezers !   The meat is very good coming from such a strong smelling live pike . If you want that chub , it's in my freezer . I may use it in my rat trap ....something in my garage ate a 6" hole through my wicker basket garbage container which had a few dead minnows inside the plastic bag ...Thanks for the fish Daniel   !

Could not turn down such a mild day.  Gave it go, went 1 for 3. Nice fatty 30 inches, released.

Might be the last one on open water with the temps dropping.

Must feel good now to have a system to catch them now more often.

Yeah, glad we are getting into a few. Key for us is very slow presentation

which takes discipline for me, being use to retrieving much quicker.

The cats and carp should keep you from going over the edge .

We can call you "Whiskers" in the meantime .

I hear there are some nice cats at Jordan .......   B)

Extra beauty day today , looks like a Rennie session for carp , or cats !   :Gonefishing:
