marktheperchman
Judging by the marks on the side of the fish it looks like a cormorant bit off more than it could swallow.
knightfisher
Might be my computer, but I only see a mark by the pectoral fin.
smerchly
Was the fish still alive Mark ? I've seen herons take a larger fish than that crappie, and sometimes the fish escapes . Was there cormorants in the area ? They are an eating machine that I've seen take a good size trout down their throat !

knightfisher
There was a video a while back that showed a heron eating a ground hog in the middle of some field. I could not believe what I was seeing. Takes away the affinity I have for them to a degree. Thinking they munch on fish and such is not the case..... There was a mark on the other side of the fish in the same place. That's why I figured a cormy had a hold of it

Lots of cormorants at these ponds and during a spring when the lake still has ice I've seen dozens of them
Bubba14
I'm surprised that there's still fish in the pond with those nasty things around...

The ponds at Legends are loaded. Big bass as well as carp, crappie obviously and lots of small pannies
