smerchly Posted September 9, 2024 Report Posted September 9, 2024 Many more items we buy are subject to an eco tax as more power tools from saws to leaf blowers are run from lithium batteries. We are supposed to take them to a waste recycle place for disposal , but most of it is tossed into the garbage headed for the landfill. We should have a monthly curb pickup for this, but it will never happen just like I tried to get the worm boxes changed to peat. I just read in the Standard about the very serious condition our waste disposal plants are in , but they will spend multi millions to upgrade the 406 with new asphalt to 'accommodate' the heavier E.V.'s that need special tires to keep the roads intact. Open de wallets wider .... I cleaned up this area today because I find it hard to sit there waiting for the carp to bite while looking at all the garbage around me....finally got my shoes & hat dried out ! Bubba14 1 Quote

Thanks for cleaning up smerch. When I was up north we stopped at some beautiful waters and sure enough there was garbage all over. I cleaned the area we checked out. smerchly Posted September 21, 2024 Report Posted September 21, 2024 About those foam worm boxes ..... a fellow angler told me he thought they are biodegradable so I did more searching and they are not ! I mentioned using compressed peat but there is another material that degrades in 12 weeks. The problem is the MNR doesn't seem to think the foam is a problem or could care less (while I'm sipping a juice box with a paper straw). How can we take the Ministry of Environment seriously when they show no interest in promoting biodegradable alternatives ? These containers could be made in any shape desired to accommodate small spaces in the coolers for people who sell worms.....just avoid keeping them in the fridge more than 12 weeks . 🦨 https://www.mdsassociates.com/compostable-bait-containers#:~:text=Polystyrene and polyethylene products are, should never use these again. Is it about the web site where they produce these products ? ( Lancaster N.Y ). I think you are referring to Tyler's post about cleaning up trash up north. ....bottom line is the MNR guys don't have enough time to catch the trashy people who lack common sense...... Quote
Markster Posted September 24, 2024 Report Posted September 24, 2024 Yeah i was refering to the location of where tylers video was shot. If it is that place, its a common family picnic and swimming spot and alot of people besides fishermen go there and many don’t take home what they bring. Sorry, i should have been more specific in my post. Quote

Sorry, i should have been more specific in my post. I know what you mean about the 'picnic-ers' Mark. Many 'families' visit parks in Niagara/Chippawa like Dufferin Islands and leave their garbage for the city to clean up. Try that in NY where they keep their parks in nice shape. I have noticed Port Dalhousie has been cleaner this year.... to impress the regatta visitors ? Back in 'the day' during the 50's they had guys with a "stick nail" picking up trash including ciggy butts at Lakeside Park. Quote

smerchly Posted September 28, 2024 Report Posted September 28, 2024 While searching EVERYWHERE for my gas power washer maintenance booklet as it keeps flying apart in the center of the wand , I found a lot of old fishing mags and papers on past fishing events . I also found a Mustad Anglers Pocket Guide and found this on page 8 where it mentions keeping our spots clean . I keep forgetting to get a copy of the new regs to see if this is mentioned, so I'll try to remember next trip to Can. Tire, if they have any left. The Mindful Angler, RJR and Tyler0420 3 Quote
