I have 2 'beginner' 12' carp rods and reels which costs under $200 with 20# line included . It can be a cheap way to fish for big fish using corn for bait .

I managed to net a 36 lb.carp with that rod  since the carp were only 30-40' from shore . Lake fishing is a new game where distance makes a huge difference, or fishing places like the whirlpool would be a greater challenge for my rigs.
