Surf and Turf Posted August 5, 2024 Report Posted August 5, 2024 I always get one just in-case I get a desire to bow hunt if I don’t punch my tag during the controlled hunt. It would be great if you could get a separate bow tag like they have in NY. Quote
Markster Posted August 5, 2024 Author Report Posted August 5, 2024 Nice. I drew one as well for 88. I never seem to use it but options are good. Quote
thatmuchfurtherwest Posted August 6, 2024 Report Posted August 6, 2024 Successful in 89B, the main guy I hunt with was not successful. Quote
Markster Posted August 6, 2024 Author Report Posted August 6, 2024 I hope our numbers are back up this year. Seems like last year the deer numbers were a bit down. honeyv 1 Quote
roadrunner Posted August 7, 2024 Report Posted August 7, 2024 No sucess for me in 89b. Too many just incase guys lol honeyv 1 Quote
Markster Posted August 9, 2024 Author Report Posted August 9, 2024 Isnt that a tough tag to get - 54? congratulations. Quote
verado Posted August 9, 2024 Report Posted August 9, 2024 They tell me it is but I have got one every year for the last 4 or 5 years. Filling them is another matter. Quote

As one of the "just incase" guys I'll reconsider for next year. I didn't realize there was a shortage. I've never, not received a doe validation, and don't hunt with anyone that hasn't got one, over decades that I know of. Based on personal observation it seems like hunter numbers have really increased the last number of years. I think that a lot of new hunters also apply for the antlerless draw even if they are only hunting in the controlled hunt. Quote

I've noticed there been a huge increase in hunters applying in 89b over the past few years. I belive they used to give out 1500 doe tags and then the sucess rate of getting a antlerless tag started to drop. Then I belive it was increased to 2000, and even then the sucess rate was 95% I believe you are spot on with the new hunters applying antlerless even though they only hunt controlled. The problem is that alot of guys who only hunt the controlled hunt don't realize you can take any deer you see that week and don't need the antlerless tag. honeyv 1 Quote
Its About Time Posted August 16, 2024 Report Posted August 16, 2024 I did not get a tag I applied for zone 47. Oh well Better luck next year Quote

Darryl L Posted October 21, 2024 Report Posted October 21, 2024 How's everyone's hunting going ? In Niagara on the lake I've seen alot of smaller bucks and a couple big Boys. Had a big 8 pointer in my scope couple nights ago but he wouldn't turn and give me a shot. Eventually ran out of light and had to let him go. Very happy with amount of deer I've seen so far. honeyv and Bubba14 2 Quote

Seen some fields yesterday with up to 30 deer in them and fields with up to 50 turkeys in the 57/58 area. Quote
