Port_D_Guy Posted August 27, 2024 Report Posted August 27, 2024 Muskrat (Cobden) Lake is a narrow, relatively long lake with a deep trench as deep at 220 ft at the pinch point.. "north and south" end is shallower otherwise deeper lengthwise. Bass, pike, walleye for sure. Lakers in the deep. Quote

I believe the only launches are at the ends of the lake. Might save this lake for the winter or later on when I’m with a buddy so I can fish it hard. Quote
Darryl L Posted August 27, 2024 Report Posted August 27, 2024 My buddy is up at Golden Lake right now and says it's fished out. He has been going there for over 10 years but says last 2 or 3 Summers fishing has been awful Quote

smerchly Posted August 28, 2024 Report Posted August 28, 2024 My cousin fished Golden Lake back in the 80's and the walleye fishing was great. They caught many on a cheap lure called a Balsa Minnow which resembles a 11 cm Rapala .Then the eye fishing dried up and they stopped going there for their holidays. Here is an interesting article about eye fishing in Golden Lake and it seems the smelt may be the culprit that decimates the "pickerel" population. They are trying to deal with the problem..... https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/it-was-once-eastern-ontario-s-premier-walleye-lake-and-could-be-again-1.6931448 Quote
Tyler0420 Posted August 31, 2024 Author Report Posted August 31, 2024 Got out today on mink lake. Found a 6-8’ hump in 25fow. Had weeds to the top so we threw some topwaters. It was pretty fun we caught bass and a nice pike. Pretty much my gfs first time fishing and she crushed this nice pike on a whopper plopper. New lake tomorrow Bubba14, knightfisher, smerchly and 2 others 5 Quote

smerchly Posted September 1, 2024 Report Posted September 1, 2024 It was wild here early this morning , lots of loud thunder , heavy rain and damaging winds. Then the internet went out and just came back now, down about 12 hrs. Nice to see the clear blue water , hope she gets another crack at that monster pike . Tyler0420 1 Quote
