Finally made it out to the Brookie grounds over the weekend (late post).

I usually like to go shortly after opener, but didn't get a chance earlier in the season so I figured I would make a little trip before its too late. It was muggy out and the sun wasn't too bad, but the bite was on and I got a limit just before the storm rolled in. Late season though the weeds were high as heck and thick. I also stocked up on some big creek chubs that get used as Tip-up bait for ice fishing.

Mmmm, best eatin trout in the land !  Congrats honeyv .

It's strange how each trout has different markings on them, reminds me of the splake we use to catch at Elliot Lake.

Different markings almost like a finger print. Not only best eatin', but in my opinion, one of our more beautiful freshwater fish we got here.

Nice catch honeyv. Don’t think I’ve ever caught a spec before.

I should get out for some chubs also. Usually by the time I want some my creek is closed.

Thanks! The chubs get even bigger. But I find these to be a fair size for pike. This day was a multi species day. Caught a Smallmouth and one fair sized sucker I debated on keeping for ice season too and see what happens... but it got thrown back. The chubs were hitting the small spinners.

Don't know how I feel about the bass I caught. Now thinking, I should have kept it.
