Chrisb Posted October 20, 2024 Report Posted October 20, 2024 Odd thought came to me when visiting Fish'n Canada site. Mud puppies seem to be caught often when ice fishing. Do they ever get caught summer fishing. Anyone know why or why not. Quote

I have dropped a line on bottom to catch them while looking for perch. I have caught a few ice fishing Erie and the Rec. canal. They are basically nocturnal so the ice darkens the bottom causing them to be more active. Many years ago I kept one in my aquarium and one day it bit me ,so I let "Gordon" go back home in the fall. They are now protected and must be released. honeyv, Dan Andrews and boogaloo 3 Quote
mrgadget Posted November 7, 2024 Report Posted November 7, 2024 About 15 years ago we were fishing Lake Erie,we seen seagulls off point albino picking up fish & seem to keep dropping them .we went closer to see what was going on. We were amazed those fish were mud puppies in 39 fow & they were all about 18”long.we seen about 50 of them swimming on top of the water. Tyler0420 and boogaloo 2 Quote
