Sorry to say but Ed Burger has caught his last rainbow off of Fisherman's pier. He was damn determined right to the end. I WILL fish again he said.

Edward has had a kind Soul since the day I met him when I was about 16 which was 40 years ago. I think he's been fighting oral cancer for the last 5 or 6. He grew up at the top of Glendale Hill across from heavy duty pizza where Stark lumber started their business before moving to Vansickle Road.

If you don't know Eddy, he's the guy who fishes the green ribbon Trail and Port D and he looks like he's got no teeth which he didn't anymore. He was proud to be a recovered alcoholic and didn't have a drink for years as those demons nearly killed him. I'd say Eddie fish 99% of his time for those last 5 or 6 years and he was damn good at it.

He will be missed by many

RIP Burger Strike!

I  met him on the ice last winter , great guy , loved fishing . He had some very complicated surgery and sadly the cancer returned.

Condolences to his family and everyone who knew him. The photo shows Ed in his element !

Thats sad news....I meet Ed for the first time this spring up on the twelve. We bumped into each other a few times over the spring. We would talk about the area and fishing in general. He would ask me questions about fly fishing. He did an amazing job with stream rehabilitation by manipulating water flow with rocks..So sorry to hear this.....
