snakeman4
on my 8wt i use magibraid backing, 30lbs, white. seems to word fine for me. just make sure to get stuff thats water resistant and will not rot or mildew. u want something that does not absorb moisture to help dry ur line when not fishing. Dogman
what are you going to be fishing for? I'm an opportunistic angler. I'm looking for sort of a general usage. Something that I can throw at bass, pike, trout, etc.
Gnfshn
Scientific Angler GPX is a nice all round line - floating and weight forward are features to look for IMO

cdnfishguy11
with a fly line it is less of what your fishing for ... and more of the area your fishing! for example if you normally fish close to your target get something with an aggresive taper like a bass line of shooting head... cplummer
scientific or cortland 444 has been good to me..
snakeman4
another helpfull tip, is if you are after a variety of species, i know a lot of fly lines these days have different packages available with changeable heads on them, floating for shallow water, sink tips for deeper etc, but for a starter id stick with floating weight forward. once u get comfortable, then move on and try a sink tip. brand that i use is RIO VersiTip XS.
