  1. Mmm. This weekend's booked for me. To much to do around the house. Question - I just watched the video from the Fly Tying Archive on the Lady Caroline. He mentions using waxed thread a couple times. I've been shown to use waxed thread for dubbing, but why is he using it for tying in the tail and on the head? Does it help seat the materials?
  2. I figured as much. I guess sarcasm doesn't come across in text so well... Anyhow, back to our regularly scheduled programming...
  3. I better not let you guys ever see me in person... yoga waders.... Maybe CCfly can give me some style SBS at the same time. You know, which logo to wear on what equipment and how to show them off best. Because the fish care about that crap.
  4. You're a good man CCfly. Now I just need to find another free night...
  5. I picked up some tube materials I want to try this on, but the last vice adapter in the store had a stripped screw and I can't find a decent needle to fit the tubing. What do you suggest for a sparser tie? Eliminate the hair & hackle wings and put a bit of Flashabou up top? I'm fishing the lower grand primarily, so I figured having a bit of bulk might give the fly more of a presence in the murk.
  6. Ok, its a hot mess, but its better than the nothing I have been tying for the last while. It's bright, and hopefully catches they eye of a steelhead as it swings by. Now to see if I can make one that looks decent....
  7. I should really get some tying done. I also want to do some swinging with my new (to me) single hand rod. I have done a few marabou spey flies, but I need to get some variety of colours and sizes done. Then get swinging. Especially because I just found out that we're having twins this summer... so I've to to make this spring count!
