  1. Glow corkies, pegged 3" above the hook with small roe bags and couple floaties tied in.  3 way swivel to a 5/8 to 3/4 pencil weight  on a 6" dropper. I go lighter than my main on the dropper weight for snags. 2-3 ft tippet of the swivel. This would be the bottom bounce setup for your local Niagara locations.

  2. Biggest federal scam ever!! You do a pcr test at home, go to US and use that same test results to come home? Duh...i guess once your tested negative here that theres no way you could be infected over there. This Gov is the most incompetant ever!! 99% the Gov is collecting kickbacks off these pcr tests, hence encouraging you to get tested at home before you go. Insane!

    Anyone get out?

I might try the grand later on this evening or tomorrow.

Went down just in town, never even gave a cast. Was choc milk, and just walking the bank I was sweating...so humid.

I fished at Pierpoint Park yesterday, water was low and clear, no fish. Seems that this area lacks shade and trees, the sun was just beating the river like a furnace.

Any suggestions where the fish would be this time of year? I will try at the end of line 6 today, "Blondies".

In the Elora conservation area if its open. Follow gorge fenceline down to water and fish upstream. Some deeper holes in there that hold fish.

  5. Upper grand has been fishing terrible. So pressured, low and too warm. Both my outtings been fishless. Thats not normal, not even a dink. Talk to Rob at grand river outfitters, hes always willing to share a few tips on whats working. I would not be fishing it in these temps though.

  6. With all public gatherings, I dont care if its a concert, a parade, a park celebration there is a cost of clean up. Yes, people are pigs no doubt about it. But if its a public place its owned by the city and they share a role in keeping it clean as well. Be it by hiring summer students, or regular emptying of the trash containers. Covid is the excuse most often used by these city workers as a way out. Yes, people need to stop trashing the place...but unless there is a budget set aside in the cleanup of these areas and its not just fishing areas, then close it to public access. Residents have a right to complain, I do not blame them. Closing everythng down works great for the city...less work for them to do. Sad, but reality.

Wondering about parking at apps mill conservation area.  Any info appreciated. Thanx

Best is to follow the same road apps mill is on right to the end, and make a left towards the river. Youlll see the bridge. Just park up from the bridge. Lots of water there. I caught a 16" brown in there and lots of small ones. Went back this past season and fishing was dead. One small 5" brown and that was it. The water up that way is perfect with lots of nice pools, just no fish.

I have never fished the whirlpool but would love to try it out this fall when my boat goes away for the winter. Great pics .

I suggest you go with someone that knows the pool. It can be dangerous if your not aware of the hazards. Also, prepare for a fun hike back up..LOL.

  9. A lot of people are either on holiday, busy, or out fishing. I tied up a few, but found a simple rabbit strip zonker works great and no need to switch up that often. Im busy working around the house, and getting some steelhead flies ready. Never seems enough time to really finish anything...have numerous unfinished jobs to do...and the to do list keeps getting bigger.

  10. I will fish with you zingers any time....you better produce though, i dont want any excuses..lol. I ventured to the credit yesterday what a blown out mess. Not caring practiced a few casts with my switch rod and the confidence is building. Im bombing it out no problem. The cool thing i thought i could never learn was casting off both sides....its a breeze now. Double spey and cast off the left side or snap t and cast off the right....got it down now. Need to learn to mend better, and hold my shooting line vs dropping it in the water. All i want now is fishable water....seems i may have to travel for that or keep tying more flies for another few weeks. So if anyone wants a partner on the fly spey or switch im in.

  11. Tom...see what I can do about posting up an SBS for swing things...

With pictures of course...lol. I tend to do better seeing ....lol. Good point Brian about stripping one side of the feather...I have found that buying the select grade makes a way better fly then the mashed up bags of crap product. I have 3 bags of Mallard flank thats probably only good enough to stuff a pillow with...lol.

  12. What hes saying Tom is they look good, like you i also tend to use too much material. Bulk can be maintained just use a little less of each material. With a bulky fly like those you may miss the hookset because of the thickness and the amount of material extending past the hook. I tried the tubes myself and im not a big fan of them. I prefer the shanks and use intruder wire or fireline crystal to tie on a trailer hook. Watch a youtube video of tying an intruder...so you can see how the trailer hook is tied on if your not familiar. Intruders are an example of a fly tied sparse but appears larger and lively in the water. Hobo speys are another good example. I also have the tendancy to bulk to much as well...then when im done i feel like taking it apart. Lol. CC tyes some great flies...take a look how sparse his are in comparison of the hook size.

  13. Hahaha....just send me pictures of your flies and the recipes. Opening a photo bucket account is a big challange...lol. if i dont post them that means they are not photo worthy...lol. Hey cc i think hes only here to leech or his flies are no good? What do you think? Lol.

  14. Well ,you sure must have a keen eye because it looks darn good to me. You must have one packed out fly box. I need another box, mines jammed full and my sling packs foam fly insert is full. Was on the US side on the weekend, Catt and 18m are locked up solid at the bottom. The top stretches are worse Ive ever seen flooded badly and tons of ice and choc milk...kiss it goodbye for quite awhile. Burt and Oak the only fishable waters over there. Cant wait for the grand to clear...Im ready to give it my best this year. Im getting steel on the swing if I have to stay out morning til night.

  15. hey boys nice flies--can post pics without photo bucket...?

Yeh you need a site that hosts your pictures schnipster. Photo bucket is one of the many. Then use the tool bar to link the picture. If you have done it right the picture will appear instantly or in preview before you post.
