Kirk Posted January 15, 2005 Report Share Posted January 15, 2005 Just got back from valens, plenty of ice but no bites. it must of had sumthin 2 do with the drastic fluxuations in the temperature and the crappies dont like the sunny weather resulting in pretty much no fish caught anywhere. I've found that the bite, esp for crappie, diminishes during the middle of the day, but turns back on late afternoon to dusk. Minnows, and wax worms have worked well in the past. Normally, my best locations for these fish have been straight out from the ramp to 8 - 10 foot depths. Last time out the fish were near the surface, but there was snow cover. Good luck next time out!
