Bronte Report

:( Made it down to Bronte yesterday afternoon & was on the water by 4pm. Of course it was rainy & miserable, but in this case it was somewhat of a good thing as there weren't that many boats out. As soon as we left the mouth we saw fish jumping & flipping everywhere. Started our troll in 20FOW & about 2min later the in-line planer goes off. A few small runs, a couple of headshakes???? What is it???? A small salmon???? Maybe a brown????? Nope, a 6lb sheepshead comes to the side of the boat caught on a deep-diving husky jerk(TENNESSEE SHAD colour). I always catch those things, if they ever start a pro-circuit for sheepshead I'm entering :angry2: . Worked our way out to deeper water (60FOW). On our turn to come back in the outside planer/husky jerk goes off(knock-off). While I'm reeling the planer rod in, the rigger rod goes off (31/60fow). It's a screamer, hand the rod to Greyhawk & a few moments later a nice 21lb king is in the boat & released. Caught on a Lyman(lime green/black). Nothing for a bit so we moved in shallower(20-30fow), in front of the marina breakwall the other in-line planer goes off. A nice 8lb king caught on a Rebel Fastrac(firetiger). Worked this area for the next few hours, resulting in 2 more salmon (18lbs & 23lbs) taken on the planer & husky-jerk combo, 2 more knock-offs on the husky-jerk & 1 more lost on a lyman. By this time it was dark & the wind switched around to the east. We moved in, anchored & did some casting with glow Cleos & Pete's Spoons but the east wind killed the fish activity (nothing was even jumping). So we called it a night.

BTW: Surface temp was 66-67*F, Trolling speed 2-2.5mph, very few fleas but check your lines once in awhile for floating algae.

Great report heatmiser74

Just got to love seeing those fish jump. Has the water temp there gone up since friday. Port Weller it went up 15F.

:( Thanks LT,

Yeah, seeing salmon after salmon launch themselves in the air sure gets the blood pumping. As far as temp is concerned it looks like it jumped 8-10F since last week. That's pretty normal to see at this time of year with cool nights, rain & especially wind direction/speed playing factors.
