Dan Andrews
http://www.niagarathisweek.com/news/article/237952 Volunteers are needed for marsh and bald eagle monitoring in Niagara. Bird Studies Canada and the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority are working together to train citizens in monitoring local species and habitats. A workshop has been planned for this month at the Ball's Falls Centre for Conservation. Taking place Feb. 28 the workshop offers two citizen science programs: the Marsh Monitoring Program and the Southern Ontario Bald Eagle Monitoring Program. Funded by the Great Lakes Sustainability Fund and the Niagara Community Foundation, the goal of the workshop is to increase awareness of local monitoring opportunities. Monitoring plays a role in understanding how natural systems change over time. To register for this workshop, contact Cindy Pilkington at Bird Studies Canada at 1-888-448-2473 ext. 122 (toll free) or e-mail cpilkington@birdscanada.org.
