Good Morning Everyone

The Friends of Niagara Parks had a great meeting last night. For those not able to attend, minutes will be sent out shortly. It was discussed and decided to host a clean-up day for the Niagara Glen area. Details are being finalized but it was felt necessary to get feedback on two possible dates before planning went any further.

The clean-up will start at 8am and run until 10 or 11 am. Please advise on your availability and willingness to participate on Saturday June 27th and/or Saturday July 18th. Based on better response only one day will be chosen for this inaugural event.

Looking forward to your feedback and the quicker the better as we have a great deal to put into place.

Hello everyone, Tomorrow is the clean up at the Glen/Whirlpool From 8:am to around 10:am it may run a little over depending on areas being covered. They are calling for ran 40% for Saturday.

Note: If it is raining steady or heavy the clean up will be cancelled do to safety reasons.

There will be sign in/out form for everyone involved in the clean up to sign, so we can keep track of groups and to know that everyone has made it back up safely.

If there is enough people they will be divided up into 5 Groups - Group #1 (Leader needed) will do the general clean up of the Glen Main trails (do to recent rock slides on the Spring Trail that trail will be left off the clean up. It runs as a side trail from River Path between Foster's Flat and Woodland Path). Group #2 Will work on fire pit removal in the Glen. Lead by Mark Buma.

Group #3 (Leader needed) Will hike from the Whirlpool to the Glen on River Path. Group #4 (Leader needed) Will clean up Whirlpool decent and beach area. Group #5 Lead by Lisa and Steve Wilson will take the Whirlpool Southwest Trail to the entrance to Whirlpool and back. This is a tricky Trail and caution is needed. Experienced hikers only. Also two people will be needed to stay at the entrance's(Glen/Whirlpool) so they can have the groups sign off as the come up. Leaders will be in Safety vest if enough availablebe

I hope the rain holds off, and as the saying goes Safety First, please don't rick injury for garbage/recyclables.

Hope to see you there

Bruce Macdonald
