Gnfshn
Did s scouting trip with the fly road to see what the river looked like. Saw a few salmon running. I was swinging a black m.o.a.l. and got a solid hit - turned out to be a nice brownie maybe 6-7 lbs. Put her back - may be a good fall.

CLofchik
Fall Bronte brownies are always special, you don't see as many now as you used to even though there is still plenty stocked. With the creeks as low, clear & dry as they are now in the fall they just don't survive more than one or two spawning runs. You used to see some real monster browns there in the fall, 20lb+. Grew up in Guelph, Ontario ... so the drive was close. We would fish the mouth right up into the Lowville Area. I can remember catching ones 13-14 lbs. (Quite often) Unfortunately, many anglers specifically target the Hens for the eggs. and were not talking taking (1). I'm a believer in being prepared and having a "Roe Supply" but dont understand these guys who seem to need an entire fridge/freezer full. (10 year supply) Considering they usually are "Good Fishermen", they can always get more in the coming seasons. Hoarders?
Brian_b
Oh yeah some guys overdo it with the girls; they fail to realise the impact of this in a few years to come...
