Nailz
I am curious if enough fish come with the rise in water to make it worth while to fish the creek through Smithville. Two weeks ago there was no water, now the water is rushing through. I have seen vehicles parked near the creek but have not actually seen anyone fishing. Are there fish? If so, what would there be? Bladeburner
There are fish in the "deeper" sections of the river. Carp, cats, pike, chain pickeral, bass etc. dont know if the rising water would bring fish to the low water areas, but I dont see why not. Follow the river west towards Hamilton out of Smithville, and there are some spots that hold fish year round...
Piker
Spring or fall is a better bet, I've heard of nice pike caught in there, never tried myself though...chain pickeral, really? I'd need to see photo evidence I think...

dave524
As a kid we caught some grass pickerel in the Welland River, little guys only about a foot in length, probably one of those. http://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/species-especes/species-especes/grasspickerel-brochetvermicule-eng.htm
