Guest chilli
Well I've thrown up a temporary site with some pics and a history lesson for you guys. Thanks to "Macboy" who guessed it right just in time. Please click on the link below to view the page I put up for ya's. Carefull as some of the links are in black n white and easy to miss. There is a link at the bottom of that page to even more pictures which should be dail up friendly. Erie Beach Amusement Park I'm planning on doing a ten part series (1 per week) unless someone else would like to give it a try. Skein gave it a go but I was hoping for a new thread. If you would like to give it a turn, then the original pic should include some subtle detail of the areas geography. Maby the "Shooting the Breeze" room would be better suited. I can't wait to see who gets the next one. I think I'll have to post a small part of the picture or you'll all get it right away. Seeya next week. Guest chilli
Thanks macboy. Got your Pm too. I spend alot of time at the bridge with little results. I got a small brown in the spring and that's it. I'll try the roe. Oh and lost 2 bows. One on minnow, one on roe. The beach isn't the safest place to bring the kids either. Note all the rebar sticking up not to mention the glass everywhere. So do you remember them tearing down the old casino in the late 70's?
wilker
chili those pics of the old waverly beach area you showed, a lot of that cement work was still standing when I was akid. We would go swimming off those two piers that run out into the lake. The big building was called the old dance hall. It was three stories tall, we climbed all over that thing. Those wall out in front were swimming pools. In the spring the carp would get in there to spawn. thewere huge. Good to see history like this keep it up. Guest Macboy
Hey Chilli, Great shot of your boy and lab. I had a lab and you can't beat them, especially with kids. Yes, I was at the Dance Hall (Casino) the day they brought it down. They rigged it with dino and imploded it. It finally had to come down as it was considered to be dangerous. Also, new owners of the land had plans for what they called a "Micro City". The project called ButtonWood was going to have a large Hotel, Condominiums and Marina based on the existing pier that still stands there today. The large pond by the new housing development at Bardol road was dug about the same time. It was going to be the foundation for the Condo. The whole project never materialized due to lack of investors I think. Cheers!
