Changes / Mnr - 2013 Ontario Fishing Regulations

I have been "Checked" (officially) 4 times in 30 years.

1. Out west (Dolly Varden) ... that was by a Fed Parks Officer

2. Credit River Mouth - 5 years ago by a MNR CO

3 Up in Keswick last summer

4. Fishing Suckers at Duffins in the Spring

I fish 100's of days throughout the year (Well... more than most)

I fish some of the Highest Traffic areas (GTA, Simcoe, GB-Huron)

I fish almost all seasons and for every type of species

* Last year and into this years spring/summer, I fished the TORONTO HARBOUFRONT on a regular basis. Even during the "No Fishing Fiasco" ... not once did I even see a MNR CO. The only people that were "talking" to me were:

- "Rent o Cops" (Harbourfront Centre Security - no offense meant with the name)

- Toronto Marine Unit Police

A couple of other occassion in the Past few years ... I have actually taken the time to GO OVER and chat with some CO's that I have seen. They werent doing any inforcement (at that time) ... just visiting and showing a presence (Which is good).

The money never seems to get ALLOCATED. Period.

I sincerely believe it's not even a case of MISMANGEMENT (compaired to all other FIASCO"S that go on out there).

They simply just do NOT ever get the funds.

Shame

is it going to change? (more monies/funds)

Nope.

What is changing ... (Thankfully)

Is more concern and input ... from the "regular fisherman" out there.

Personally CANT STAND the PREACHERS ....

But love to see the "regular guy" doing little tokens / gestures.... each and every day.

We (myself included) tend to "Focus" on a lot of the negative (understandable) ... yet, I firmly believe there are more GOOD, RESPECTFUL fishermen out there... than ever.

Keeps me positive about the future of my FAVOURITE PASTIME!

4 times in 30 years sadly......doesn't surprise me. Not that I'm wishing that I get interupted every time I fish but geez louise. When I got checked as frequently as I did I thought "Wow they are really picking up their game". I have come to find out that I am the only person I ever talk to who has been checked that frequently in that short a period.

Seems the blitz was just on me.
